In-Person Information Session: Immigrant Women Entrepreneurship Network

Join this in-person information session at Halifax Central Library’s RBC Centre to learn about the 30-hour Immigrant Women Entrepreneurship Network (IWEN) training program for immigrant and refugee women entrepreneurs who want to start their businesses in Nova Scotia. This program will help you answer the question, “How do we turn our business ideas into reality?”

Classes will take place every Wednesday from 5:45-8:45 pm for 10 weeks, from March 20 to May 29. This is a hybrid course, so classes will be offered both online and in person.

At this information session, you will:

  • Receive an overview of the upcoming IWEN training program
  • Find out whether the course is a good fit for you
  • Have an opportunity to answer questions and register for the course

Training through the IWEN program will include:

  • Introduction to entrepreneurship and the business culture in Canada
  • Business planning and legal requirements
  • Market research, networking, and sales
  • Online presence and social media
  • Financial management such as pricing, costs, sales forecasting, financial statements, financing opportunities, etc.
  • Certification, investor-ready pitch training, and a real-life pitch competition

To be eligible for this course, you must:

  • Be an immigrant or refugee woman who is at least 19 years old (including: international students, closed and open work-permit holders, permanent residents, and Canadian citizens born outside Canada)
  • Be a registered ISANS business client
  • Have a Canadian Language Benchmark of 5 (CLB 5) or higher
