Newcomers and Recreation Workshop (Online)

Join us for a 3-hour, online training program on creating inclusive, diverse, and welcoming recreational communities for newcomers.
As Nova Scotia becomes more culturally diverse, we all need to learn how to welcome and work with newcomers and build a better community together.
During this training, you will increase your cultural humility to support more inclusive, diverse, and welcoming recreational communities. You are welcome to apply if you are involved in recreational activities as a coach, facilitator, or volunteer or if you are interested in making recreational communities more welcoming. We also deliver workshops tailored to individual organizations at no fee.
In this workshop, you will:
- Develop knowledge and awareness about newcomers in Nova Scotia
- Learn skills to create inclusive, diverse, and welcoming recreational communities
- Explore ways to welcome and support newcomers through recreation
- Connect and network with others
Schedule
The workshops will take place on Microsoft Teams from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm on the following dates in 2024,
- Wednesday, February 21
- Wednesday, April 24
- Wednesday, June 20
