About the Program
If you are a visible minority, newcomer woman who needs help finding employment in your field, the Visible Minority Newcomer Women at Work Program is designed to help you:
- Become job-ready
- Further enhance your job-specific skills
- Meet potential employers and expand your network
Through the Visible Minority Newcomer Women at Work Program, you will be randomly placed in one of the following two groups:
Group 1
- A 6-week, in-class training program that will focus on:
- Building self-confidence
- Gender equality in the workplace
- Change management
- Developing an occupation-specific, essential skills portfolio
- Completing job-search strategies and practice interviews
- Completing digital literacy training (as needed)
Group 2
- A 6-week, customized, employment-counselling training program that will include:
- Developing a personalized action plan
- Regular employment counselling sessions
- Referrals to Job Search Strategies Workshops
- Access to all needed employment-related services at ISANS
To be eligible to attend this program you must:
- Be a visible minority woman
- Have a post-secondary education
- Have a Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) of 5 +
- Be a permanent resident of Canada
- Be a new client to the Employment and Bridging programs at ISANS
- Agree to attend one information session, and if interested, sign the consent form and complete an online self-assessment and a survey
