The Emera Blue Nose Marathon, Atlantic Canada's largest running and walking event, promotes healthy living and active lifestyles for all ages and abilities through the marathon's Expo and Races.
ISANS is proud to partner this year with this event to highlight the importance of community integration. Donations will directly support refugee and newcomer families to access recreation, sports, and outdoor activities that foster belonging and growth in Nova Scotia, aligning with ISANS' mission to empower immigrants to build futures in their new communities.
Join the Run 4 ISANS campaign and support newcomer integration in Nova Scotia!
This year, participate in the Emera Blue Nose Marathon events and support our inclusive initiative. You can share the campaign, run or walk while fundraising, cheer on our runners, encourage others to join in or spread the word by sharing with family and friends. “I like it, I do it for myself. It helps me to maintain stress and exercise. My kids like it too. I am interested in running this year too.”
Babiker, Blue Nose marathon runner for ISANS 2023

“I was not running before. I used to walk a lot when I came to Canada, so I thought to give it a try and run Marathon to keep myself fit and active. It gave me motivation when I met with other people.”
Claudine Nakatya, Blue Nose marathon runner 5KM for ISANS 2023
ISANS – Blue Nose Relationship History
2016
In 2016, a significant collaboration began between ISANS and Blue Nose Marathon Society. We were invited to host the water station at the finish line of the marathon.
During that time, ISANS was actively providing essential support to Syrian newcomers arriving in our community. The opportunity to connect with the community through such a prominent event was both exciting and meaningful for us.
2016-2020
From 2016 to 2020, ISANS actively participated in the Blue Nose Charity Challenge, successfully raising over $10,000 for its programs while providing free race entries to clients, staff, and volunteers. During this period, more than 200 clients engaged in the event, with over 100 volunteers contributing their support.
2021-2024
ISANS successfully organized the water station at the Blue Nose finish line and provided free race entries to over 350 clients, staff, and volunteers, though we did not participate in the Blue Nose Charity Challenge this year.
