The Immigrant Youth Career Exploration Project (IYCEP) will help you learn more about post-secondary education options, goal setting, and career exploration.

About the Program

Are you a refugee youth currently attending high school? Do you want to explore careers and gain Canadian work experience?
The Immigrant Youth Career Exploration Project (IYCEP) will help you learn more about post-secondary education options, goal setting, and career exploration. You will also receive active and ongoing, one-on-one employment counselling and coaching.

This project is designed to help refugee youth:

  • Explore career options
  • Gain local work experience
  • Understand Canadian work environments and essential skills
  • Take steps toward a brighter future

Through the Immigrant Youth Career Exploration Project, you will:

  • Master job search techniques, resume writing, and interview skills
  • Become certified in First Aid, WHMIS, and Fire Safety
  • Learn about pathways to post-secondary education
  • Learn about financial management
  • Gain Canadian work experience
  • Increase your confidence in your skills and abilities

To be eligible for the Youth Career Exploration Project, you must:

  • Be a refugee youth currently attending high school (grades 10, 11, or 12)
  • Commit to attending two classes per week (evenings and/or weekends from March to June)
  • Commit to participating in field trips to educational institutions
  • Be willing and available to work a summer job from July to August
