Resettlement Assistance Program (RAP)

Through this program, our resettlement assistance counsellors will welcome you at the airport, help you move into temporary accommodations, and assist you with your immediate needs such as moving into your first apartment, setting up banking, and accessing healthcare.

About the Program

Through this program, our resettlement assistance counsellors will welcome you at the airport, help you move into temporary accommodations, and assist you with your immediate needs such as moving into your first apartment, setting up banking, and accessing healthcare.

In addition, our resettlement assistance counsellors work closely with landlords toward affordable housing and to build better access to culturally sensitive services for immigrants. Once you've arrived, one of our settlement counsellors will continue to support you over the next two years.

Your RAP coordinator will help you with:

  • Find and move into your first apartment, and they will support you with apartment application processed, the Tenancy Act, and apartment living
  • Banking and budgeting
  • Household and grocery shopping
  • Access health care
  • Refer you to internal and external services and programs (such as English Language tests and Interim Federal Health)
