Growing Stronger Neighbourhoods – Seniors Picnic

SeniorsPicnic8

The smell of homemade pizza drifted throughout the Dartmouth Commons on Wednesday, August 1, as newcomers gathered at the Park Avenue Community Oven for pizza making and a picnic. Over 20 participants from seniors’ groups at ISANS and the YMCA Centre for Immigrant Programs came out to enjoy the sunshine, make homemade pizza, and spend time with others in their community.

What made the event extra special was the helping hands that came along – grandchildren! The kids excitedly made pizzas, helped the adults decide what toppings to use, made sure the pizzas were cooked to perfection, and handed out slices once it was done. Check out the photos below!
