ISANS hosts TESL NS Fall Conference

ISANS was host to the Teachers of English as a Second Language (TESL) Nova Scotia (NS) Fall Conference on Saturday, November 17. More than 100 EAL teachers and program administrators came together to network and share their knowledge and best practices for inclusive teaching. The conference included four keynote speakers, 14 workshops, a book exchange, EAL-themed trivia, the TESL film fest, and the TESL NS Annual General Meeting (AGM). The keynote speakers for the event were University of New Brunswick’s Dr. Paula Kristmanson, Atlantic Region Association of Immigrant Serving Agencies’ (ARAISA) Carolyn Whiteway, Saint Mary’s University’s Brian Hotson, and ISANS’ Carmen Celina Moncayo. Rafah DiCostanzo, MLA for Clayton Park West, was in attendance for the AGM, to meet and speak with participants.

“It was really nice to welcome the TESL NS community to ISANS,” says Amanda Vassallo, a member of the conference organizing committee. “It was a wonderful experience hosting these professionals and allowing them to see the space ISANS operates in. The event was intimate and allowed for ample networking, and the keynote speakers and presenters were well received and praised for their quality.”
