Divert NS and ISANS launch second round of micro-grants for immigrant entrepreneurs

Immigrant Services Association of Nova Scotia (ISANS) is excited to announce the opening of the second round of applications for its Micro Grant program in partnership with Divert NS.

This initiative highlights the collaborative efforts of ISANS and Divert NS in promoting sustainable practices among immigrant businesses and reflects their shared commitment to fostering a greener future for all Nova Scotians. Together, they are empowering immigrant entrepreneurs to implement innovative solutions that contribute positively to the environment and the local economy.

“The micro-grants program highlights the importance of empowering immigrant businesses to innovate and contribute to Nova Scotia’s sustainability goals,” said Christine Alvarez, Manager of Business Workforce and Integration at ISANS. “This partnership exemplifies how collaboration can drive both economic and environmental impact.”

Following the successful distribution of $21,000 in micro-grants among 15 immigrant businesses in the first round, this initiative aims to support innovative projects further focused on reducing single-use plastics, promoting sustainable and recyclable packaging, and encouraging repair and repurposing practices.

“This grant from ISANS and Divert NS empowers us to strengthen our commitment to sustainability by integrating innovative waste diversion solutions that align seamlessly with our eco-friendly practices,” said Nubia Rojas & Edgar Bran, founders of B&R ProClean Inc. “It not only enhances our capacity to deliver exceptional cleaning services but also highlights our unwavering dedication to protecting the environment for generations to come.”

The call for applications is now open, with a January 31, 2025 deadline.

Immigrant entrepreneurs interested in applying for a micro-grant can find more information on eligibility and the application process by contacting ISANS at Business@isans.ca.
