Through the lens of resilience: Neetu Singh’s journey as a woman entrepreneur 

Neetu Singh’s story exemplifies resilience, creativity, and transformation. After leaving behind a flourishing career in corporate training, she embraced her lifelong passion for photography—a pursuit that had always been more than just a hobby.  

“For me, photography became a powerful medium to capture emotions and narrate untold stories,” Neetu explains. “However, turning this passion into a business was intimidating, so I chose to follow my dream.” 

With a lens in hand and a heart full of determination and passion, Neetu decided to embrace the uncertainty that lay ahead. 

“Every challenge is an opportunity to learn and grow. Trust in your vision, believe in your worth, and take that first step,” says Neetu. “Surround yourself with people who uplift you and never stop believing in your dream.” 

In 2024, she embarked on a life-changing journey by relocating to Nova Scotia, Canada. This move presented not only the challenge of starting over in a new country but also the opportunity to build something meaningful. During this transition, Neetu discovered ISANS, whose support became a cornerstone of her entrepreneurial journey. 

“What really touches me about ISANS is the genuine care they show in helping newcomers succeed,” Neetu shares. “It’s not just about providing resources; it’s about truly believing in people and their potential to build new lives here. More than just business training, IWEN has given me meaningful collaborations, deep friendships, and a true sense of belonging in this new chapter of my life.” 

Through Immigrant Women Entrepreneurship Network (IWEN), Neetu accessed mentorship, resources, and invaluable connections that helped her refine her business strategies and boost her confidence.  

“Neetu’s dedication to her business was clear. She joined classes from India despite the time difference, always engaged and eager to learn,” shares Julekha Nusrat, Business Counsellor & Trainer. “She is not only a visionary and a gifted photographer but also uplifts those around her and is always ready to volunteer for the community. I am honoured to support her journey and witness her growth and brilliance.” 

The program also introduced her to a network of like-minded women entrepreneurs who inspired and supported her throughout her journey. She emphasizes the importance of community in achieving one’s dreams. 

“Being part of the program has truly been a game-changer in my ongoing entrepreneurial journey as a newcomer in Nova Scotia,” adds Neetu. “I found the foundation I needed to rebuild with confidence in a new country. I was introduced to a vibrant network and connected with essential business support organizations.” 

Today, Neetu’s photography business thrives as she captures life’s beauty through her lens, creating timeless images that tell compelling stories. Her work inspires others to pursue their passions fearlessly and embrace their potential. 

“Currently, I’m working on a dream project that’s incredibly close to my heart: ‘40 Women Over 40’,” Neetu shares. “It’s more than a photoshoot; it’s a movement to celebrate women who have spent decades building families, careers, and communities—yet are so often overlooked.” 

Neetu’s journey proves the power of resilience, creativity, and community support. As she continues to grow personally and professionally, her story is a shining example of how immigrant women entrepreneurs are redefining success, bringing innovation, empathy, and purpose into their ventures while shaping communities for the better.
