An Employment Specialist will help you create a special plan of action for your employment and career goals and needs.

Employment specialists can refer you to any of the following programs, according to your work action plan:

  • Job Search Workshops (online and in-class)
  • Atlantic Immigrant Career Pathway Loan Fund (AICLF)
  • Bridge to Work Program
  • International Pharmacy Graduates Bridging Program
  • Internationally Educated Dental Professionals Bridging Program
  • International Medical Graduates Bridging Program
  • Internationally Educated Nurses Orientation Program
  • Internationally Educated Engineers Bridging Program
  • Internationally Educated Architects Bridging Program
  • Work-based Trades Practical Assessment

Your Employment Specialist can help you in-person, pre-arrival or at distance to:

  • develop a get-to-work action plan
  • create and target your resume and cover letter
  • navigate the pathways to licensure in your field and apply for financial support through the Atlantic Immigrant Career Loan Fund (AICLF)
  • seek informational interviews with potential employers
  • learn job search techniques, interview skills and understand Canadian workplace culture
  • connect with employment opportunities and receive job development support

To be eligible for Employment Counselling you must:

  • Be interested in working in Nova Scotia
  • Be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Born outside Canada
  • Register as an ISANS client
  • Work hand in hand with your Employment Specialist to reach your career goals
