Spryfield Tragedy
With great sadness, we inform the greater ISANS community that a tragic house fire took the lives of seven children in a newcomer family in Spryfield on Tuesday. Our deepest condolences go to the family members and the community.
ISANS is providing support to the family, as well as clients and staff in this difficult time.
Media are asked to send inquiries to media@old.isans.ca.
Below are some questions and answers regarding ISANS role and what you can do.
How can I help?
Unfortunately, ISANS is unable to take financial or physical donations for the family. Please be aware that funds sent to ISANS will go to our Refugee Emergency Fund and not to specific families. To learn more about organizations collecting monetary donations for the family, please visit:
- Ummah Mosque And Community Center, the family’s mosque: facebook.com/ummahmasjid
- HEART Nova Scotia, the family’s sponsorship group: www.facebook.com/heartsociety.ns
We encourage all Nova Scotians to connect with newcomers in their community and offer support in this difficult time and beyond.
